Style: Georgian (1714 - 1830)
The depiction of musical instruments in interiors was incredibly popular during the Georgian period - not just in music rooms, but in drawing rooms and dining rooms too. It was thought to show that the owners of the house were educated. The design for this group of instruments with some sheet music is taken from a woodcarving by Grinling Gibbons.
